Deputy Mayor (Wawali) of Surakarta Teguh Prakosa confirmed that Gibran Rakabuming Raka immediately resigned from the position of Mayor (Walkot) of Surakarta.

The resignation was due to Gibran being sworn in as the elected vice president in the near future.

"Today at 14.00 WIB, I escorted the Mayor to the DPRD to submit his resignation letter," said Teguh in Solo, Central Java, Tuesday, July 16, which was confiscated by Antara.

For the process of resignation, he said, it was the domain of the Surakarta City DPRD. He said the resignation letter would be submitted before the DPRD held a meeting.

"At 14.00 WIB there was a discussion of Banggar, before the discussion later the letter was submitted," he said.

Meanwhile, he was reluctant to explain further about the discussion between the two, especially regarding the mayor's duties which will be carried out by a temporary replacement.

"Please go to the DPRD office later," he said.

Previously, answering the issue of him resigning as Mayor of Surakarta, Gibran was also reluctant to provide a detailed answer.
