Tuesday Afternoon Jokowi Leaves For Abu Dhabi To Discuss IKN Investment With PEA

JAKARTA - Indonesian President Joko Widodo left for Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (PEA), Tuesday afternoon, July 16, to meet with PEA President Muhammad bin Zayed Al Nahyan (MBZ) to discuss efforts to increase cooperation between the two countries.

"This afternoon, I and the limited delegation will make a state visit to Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates," said Jokowi, starting his statement at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base, Jakarta, ahead of his departure to the United Arab Emirates, quoted by ANTARA.

Jokowi will meet PEA President Muhammad bin Zayed Al Nahyan (MBZ) on Wednesday, July 17, 2024.

"In the meeting with President MBZ later, I will discuss, among other things, various efforts to increase economic cooperation and strategic investment," he explained.

During the meeting, President Jokowi will also discuss the capital city of the archipelago (IKN) with President MBZ.

The two leaders will also witness the signing of a business memorandum of understanding between entrepreneurs of the two countries.

In the last 10 years, said Jokowi, relations between Indonesia and the United Arab Emirates have increased very rapidly, especially in the fields of economy and investment.

According to him, the United Arab Emirates is one of Indonesia's main partners and strategic partners in the Middle East and is the first Middle Eastern country in Indonesia to have a comprehensive partnership agreement or Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA).

"Our partnership is, among other things, centered in cooperation in the field of clean energy such as solar energy cooperation in the Cirata Reservoir," said Jokowi.

The President of the Republic of Indonesia said that the cooperation that had been established with PEA would be continued by the new government later.

Jokowi will soon return to the country after a meeting with President MBZ on July 17, 2024.
