KPK Ready To Intervene In Handling The Sengkarut Hajj Quota If Collaborated With The DPR

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) appreciates the establishment of a special committee (pansus) for Hajj supervision in the DPR RI. This institution is even ready to take care of the chaos in the implementation of the worship if it receives a request.

"KPK welcomes the special committee that was made positively. Of course, if later there is a request from the DPR for assistance from the KPK," said KPK spokesman Tessa Mahardika to reporters at the Merah Putih building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Friday, July 12.

"We will see in what capacity the KPK can assist these activities," he continued.

Tessa said there are at least two things the anti-corruption commission can do, namely taking precautions or taking action. "But so far we have not taken any action," said the spokesman with the investigator's background.

As previously reported, the DPR agreed to form a special committee for Hajj supervision in the 21st Plenary Meeting. A total of 30 council members came from all factions.

Later, Luluk Nur Hamidah, who is a member of the special committee, said that they found indications of corruption in the implementation of the 2024 Hajj pilgrimage. This finding complements indications of the transfer of the Hajj quota that is not in accordance with the law.

"Not only are there indications of violations of the law, but we also smell indications of corruption in the transfer of the regular hajj quota to a special pilgrimage," Luluk told reporters, Wednesday, July 10.

According to information received by Luluk, the transfer of the regular hajj quota to special hajj as much as 50 percent is indicated to be corruption. Therefore, the special committee will explore and investigate the truth of the information.
