Financial Audit Agency Finds Formula E Fund Flowing Touch IDR 1 Trillion, Deputy Governor Riza: God Willing, We Will Hold It In 2022

JAKARTA - Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Ahmad Riza Patria responded to the audit results of the Financial Audit Agency (BPK) on the Jakarta Provincial Government's financial transaction reports for 2019 to 2020 regarding the plan to implement Formula E.

Riza admitted that his party had responded to the results of the BPK audit regarding the amount of budget that had been disbursed for the plan to organize the electric car race.

Riza said that the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government still wants to hold Formula E. The plan is that international car racing will start to be held in 2022.

"Later (Formula E) will be implemented. We plan later. God willing, if there are no obstacles, in 2022," said Riza on Thursday, March 18 evening.

Riza said the Formula E event which has now been postponed twice was due to the COVID-19 pandemic which still threatens the health of residents.

However, Riza guarantees that the commitment fee or down payment paid annually to the International Automotive Federation (FIA) is not forfeited. So, DKI can still continue the Formula E title if it is ready.

"(Budget commitment fee) Formula E that we spend is still there. There is a feasibility study. There is a consultant who checks that all processes are running according to the existing provisions and regulations. We will wait for the implementation," he said.

Previously, the Financial Audit Agency (BPK) Representative of DKI Jakarta reported the results of an audit of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government's financial transactions in 2019 to 2020. One of the things that were examined was the Formula E program transaction.

In the audit results issued on 19 June 2020, the Financial Audit Agency (BPK) noted that the Governor of DKI Jakarta Anies Baswedan has paid a commitment fee and a Bank Guarantee of nearly IDR 1 trillion.

"Based on research on financial transactions related to the implementation of Formula E, it is known that payments made to FEO are worth GBP 53,000,000 or the equivalent of IDR 983,310,000,000," said Head of Financial Audit Agency (BPK) Representative Office for DKI Jakarta Pemut Aryo Wibowo.

In detail, there is a commitment fee paid in 2019 worth IDR 360 billion. Furthermore, in 2020, the paid commitment fee is equivalent to IDR 200.3 billion. Then, the Bank Guarantee that is paid is worth IDR 423 billion.
