JAKARTA - Morocco plans to buy a spy satellite from Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) in an agreement worth US$1 billion.
IAI said it signed a USD 1 billion contract to supply one of its systems to an unnamed third party.
The IAI, which makes several of Israel's most advanced missile drones and defense systems, said in a regulatory filing in Tel Aviv the deal would be held for five years.
Reported by Reuters on Wednesday, July 10, under the contract, IAI will supply spy satellites Ofek 13, which will replace two Airbus and Thales satellites, reports Morocco's Le Desk and Le 360 news sites, citing Israeli sources in Rabat.
Israel's chief mission in Rabat and Morocco's Foreign Ministry have not responded to requests for comment from Reuters.
