Israeli Missile Attack In Gaza Occurs When Refugees Gather To Watch Football Matches

JAKARTA - Israeli missiles hit a camp tent in southern Gaza just as refugees gathered to watch football matches at school.

Reportedly 29 people, mostly women and children, were killed in the attack, according to Palestinian officials. The attack came as spectators packed the school grounds in Abassan east of Khan Younis and hawkers selling smoothies and biscuits.

"They were watching a football game. Some were injured and became victims. I witnessed this... people were thrown and body parts were scattered, blood," a young woman, Ghazal Nasser, told Reuters in Abassan, Wednesday, July 10.

"Everything is normal. People play, there are those who buy (food and drinks). There is no sound of plane or anything else," he said.

The Israeli military said it was reviewing reports of civilians becoming a Korbab. It said the incident occurred when they attacked with a proper "ammunition" against a Hamas fighter who took part in the October 7 attack on Israel that sparked the war.
