6 Days Lost In The South Barito Forest, 75-Year-Old Grandfather Found Lifeless

The Palangkaraya Basarnas together with a joint team evacuated the body of a grandfather who had been missing for six days in the forest of South Barito Regency, Central Kalimantan Province (Kalteng).

"Today, the joint SAR team's efforts have paid off. The victim, on behalf of Jaiman (75) who was missing in the forest of Marga Jaya Village, Gunung Bintang Awai District, South Barito, was found dead," said Field Coordinator of Palangka Raya Basarnas Dedi through a statement received in Palangkaraya, Central Kalimantan, Tuesday, July 9, confiscated by Antara.

He explained that the victim's body was found by the joint SAR team at 11.00 WIB about 500 meters from the victim's house. The victim's body was then evacuated to the funeral home to be handed over to the family.

Head of the Palangkaraya A A Basarnas Office Ketut Alit Supartana revealed earlier based on information from one of the victims' families, on Wednesday, July 3, at 16.00 WIB, the grandfather went to the forest to look for grass for livestock food.

However, until 18.00 WIB, the grandfather never came home. The family has made an effort to search the forest around the house, but the grandfather was not found.

The loss incident was then reported to the Palangka Raya Basarnas which was followed up by the dispatch of a team to conduct searches around the scene. Supported by various related parties, this joint SAR team finally found the victim who was declared dead.

The SAR elements involved in the search included the Palangka Raya Basarnas Rescue Team, South Barito BPBD, 1012-12 Tambak Kanilan Koramil, Gunung Bintan Awai Police, SAR SAR UPR SMEs, surrounding communities, and the families of the victims.

"With the discovery of the victim and having been evacuated, the SAR operation was officially declared closed and all SAR elements involved were returned to their respective units and with thanks," he said.
