Promote Online Gambling For 15 Days, Semarang Celebration Paid Rp600 Thousand Arrested

JATENG - Semarang Polrestabes arrested a female Instagram celebrity (selebgram) with the initials DW (19) who is suspected of having promoted the online gambling provider page on his social media account

Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of Semarang Polrestabes Kompol Andika Dharma Sena said the owner of the Instagram account with 93 thousand followers received a fee of Rp600 thousand to promote an online gambling page called "Jejuslot".

He explained that the suspect accepted a job to upload the slot gambling page twice a day for 15 days.

"Twice uploads every day for 15 days with a fee of Rp600 thousand," he said.

He said the perpetrators got the job starting from a message received from someone through his Instagram account.

The suspect, who is still a student, agreed to "endorse" the gambling page even though he knew it was against the law.

The perpetrator admitted that he was desperate to take the job because he needed money to fulfill his lifestyle.

Apart from celebrities, said Andika, the police also arrested a man with the initials KCW (29) who also promoted two online gambling games at once, Toto188 and Suitable 777, through his Facebook account.

The suspect promoted the two online gambling games to fellow Facebook users with the lure of a commission on depositing money in both games.

The perpetrators themselves received a commission of 10 percent from each member of the group who had deposited money.

For their actions, the two suspects were charged with Law Number 1 of 2024 concerning information and electronic transactions.
