Police About The Pancoran Clash: The Main Problem Is Between Residents And Pertamina

JAKARTA - South Jakarta Metro Police Chief Kombes Azis Andriansyah confirmed that outsiders were involved in clashes related to land disputes between Pertamina and local residents on Jalan Pancoran Buntu II.

"The main problem is between the citizens and Pertamina. The others are defending each party. Those who defend each party should not take any action either way," he said in Jakarta as quoted by Antara, Thursday, March 18.

According to Kombes Azis, each group supports the two main parties in the land dispute, namely Pertamina and the residents who clashed around Jalan Pancoran Buntu II on Wednesday, March 17 evening.

Even though currently the mediation process and the legal process are ongoing.

"The group that accompanies each of these parties then clashes. This is what we must prevent so that the main problem is not blurred, unbiased," said Azis.

Because of this, the police asked the two groups that were outside the disputing parties not to interfere with the ongoing legal process and mediation.

Previously, clashes broke out on Jalan Pancoran Buntu II in the aftermath of a land dispute between residents and Pertamina which resulted in a number of people being injured.

However, the South Jakarta Police Chief said that no perpetrator in the clash had yet been secured. Azis had visited the location of the clash and met with a number of residents on the night of Wednesday, March 17.
