Vice President: Palestine Conflict Is Not A Religious Issue But Politics-humanity

JAKARTA - Vice President (Vice President) Ma'ruf Amin emphasized that the conflict in Palestine that has occurred to date is not motivated by religious issues, but political and humanitarian issues.

The vice president conveyed this when receiving a visit from the UN Palestinian Committee Bureau Delegation (CEIRPP) at the Vice President's Palace, Jakarta, Thursday, July 4.

"It is important for us to underline that the Palestinian issue is not a religious issue, but a political and humanitarian issue," said the Vice President as stated by the Press Bureau of the Vice Presidential Secretariat as reported by ANTARA.

To that end, the Vice President expects the international community to unite in the name of humanity to defend peace and justice for Palestine.

"In the future, I hope the Palestinian Committee will continue to garner international community support to push for a ceasefire in Gaza," he said.

In addition, the Vice President also asked the Palestinian Committee to reveal Israel's accountability for violations of international law against the Palestinian people. In addition, it also continues to garner support and recognition from many countries for Palestinian sovereignty.

"(Similarly) the implementation of the decision of the International Court and raising humanitarian aid for Palestine, including through The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA)," said the Vice President.

Finally, the Vice President also hopes that the Palestinian Committee can urge the unity of votes at the UN Security Council to realize peaceful solutions and support full Palestinian membership at the United Nations.

"I hope this visit can strengthen Indonesia's cooperation with the United Nations Palestinian Committee in realizing peaceful and justice solutions for Palestine," he said.
