JAKARTA - Russian Ambassador to Britain Andrey Kelin said in an interview that Ukraine's conflict with Russia was almost impossible in 24 hours like Donald Trump's claims, including even though he won the upcoming November US Presidential Election.
Asked if Trump would be able to negotiate a settlement of the Ukrainian conflict within 24 hours in an interview with Sky News, Ambassador Kelin replied "almost no".
"First of all, he must be president. Second, a lot of effort must be made to do this and it depends on what kind of requirements will happen," he said, launching TASS July 3.
"You know that a lot of attention is now paid to the draft almost final agreement between Russia and Ukraine in early 2022 in Istanbul, and it may be a great platform," said Ambassador Kelin.
Trump, a Republican presidential candidate said in last week's debate with Democratic candidate and incumbent Joe Biden, if he is re-elected in November, he will soon finish the war in Ukraine before taking office in January.
He has not provided details on how to do it, but Reuters reported last week that Trump's two main advisers had given him plans that would involve threats to cut US aid if Kyiv did not negotiate with Moscow.
"Everyone including Donald Trump, must be realistic about the real situation on the ground," said Ambassador Kelin.
He noted that Russia "will not stop its offensive actions" even if negotiations on conflict resolution in Ukraine are launched.
"We continue to move forward. It is wrong to think that there is a dead end in the area (special military operations), there is no freezing," he said.
"We are attacking now and we control the area," he continued.
