JAKARTA - Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono revealed that the DKI Provincial Government allocates a fairly large budget every year for poverty alleviation programs in Jakarta.

Heru said this when he opened the International Mayors Forum (IMF) 2024 which was attended by delegates from 22 countries and 63 city governments in Africa, Asia Pacific, Latin America, and West Asia.

"The development of urban poverty, allocating Rp18.96 trillion for poverty alleviation. This allocation does not exist in other cities in Indonesia, only in Jakarta, and the magnitude is extraordinary," said Heru, Tuesday, July 2.

Heru said this budget includes a number of programs across regional work units (SKPD) and DKI Jakarta BUMDs such as assistance and subsidies programs.

"Including public transportation subsidies, additional food assistance for children, financial support for education through the Jakarta Smart Plus Card, Superior Jakarta Student Card, and Healthy Jakarta Card," said Heru.

On the other hand, Heru also emphasized that the DKI Provincial Government continues to encourage all stakeholders to increase food security, such as urban farming, monitoring food stocks, and distributing cheap basic necessities.

"The hope is that basic food needs will be met at affordable prices in the midst of soaring world food prices, while ensuring that all residents have access to adequate, safe, and nutritious food," he explained.

Furthermore, Heru explained that this poverty alleviation program was included as one of the sustainable development goals (SDGs) efforts.

"This meeting (the IMF) is an important step in a collective journey towards sustainable development of points that have been conveyed will be discussed further at the next two days meeting," said Heru.
