40 Lands Of Former Meranti Regent Muhammad Adil Confiscated By KPK

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) confiscated dozens of plots of land belonging to the former Regent of Meranti Islands Muhammad Adil. It is suspected that this asset is related to the receipt of gratuities and money laundering (TPPU) that ensnared him.

"That investigators confiscated 40 plots of land assets suspected of belonging to suspects spread across several areas and islands in Meranti Islands Regency," said KPK spokesman Tessa Mahardika in a written statement to reporters, Monday, July 1.

This confiscation was carried out by the anti-corruption commission on June 21-26. Tessa said the land was worth up to billions of rupiah.

"The estimated value of the 40 plots of land is approximately Rp. 5 billion," said the spokesman with the investigator's background.

Investigators have installed confiscation signs on the 40 lands. Then, 37 witnesses were also examined to investigate the corruption case committed by Adil.

"Investigators are investigating the alleged receipt of gratuities by the suspect on behalf of the Supreme Court and the alleged crime of money laundering," he said.

As previously reported, the KPK has named Muhammad Adil as a suspect in cases of alleged corruption, budget cuts, and bribery. He was appointed together with M. Fahmi Aressa as the Young Audit Agency for the Audit Board of Finance (BPK) Representatives of Riau and Fitria Nengsih as the Head of BPKAD of the Meranti Islands Regency Government.

Meanwhile, Muhammad Adil was caught in a hand arrest operation (OTT) along with dozens of other people in Meranti Islands Regency, Riau Province on Thursday, April 6, 2023. The anti-corruption agency found evidence that Muhammad Adil received around Rp. 26.1 billion from various parties.
