Chairman of the DPP NasDem Party Willy Aditya said that his party did not believe in the issue of President Joko Widodo interfering in offering his son, Kaesang Pangarep to run in the 2024 Pilkada.

NasDem, according to Willy, did not want to prejudice Jokowi, who was rumored to have participated in lobbying political parties to carry his son in the Jakarta gubernatorial election.

"It's too contradictory, yes. We are positive for things, we are husnuzon (good to think) because this is synergy. If it's studied, blunt, later (the issue) will not be finished," said Willy at the NasDem DPP office, Friday, June 28.

Willy claims that NasDem will look for a candidate for governor of DKI Jakarta who can carry out development properly. This is also the demand of the General Chairperson of NasDem Surya Paloh.

Moreover, Willy acknowledged, so far NasDem has never received a request to participate in carrying the PSI General Chair in the Jakarta Pilkada.

"We'll see, we'll hear it as a dynamic. But, so far NasDem hasn't been around for things like that," explained Willy.

Previously, Secretary General of the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) Aboe Bakar Habsyi said that President Jokowi had offered the name Kaesang who was PSI General Chair to political parties to be promoted in the Jakarta Pilkada.

Kaesang is rumored to want to be paired with former West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil. However, Kaesang has also denied the issue.

"Don't bring up the president, it's me who is the general chairman," said Kaesang, Friday, June 28.

According to Kaesang, the party who has the right to decide who will run to represent PSI in the Pilkada is himself as the general chairman.

Several things will also be considered by Kaesang in determining who will run in the DKI Pilkada.

"PSI has seats in Jakarta, there are quite 8 seats. Many parties also offer their heroes to be supported by PSI. The statement by the Secretary General of PKS may want to close the door of the coalition with PSI, that's okay too," he said.

Apart from that, he hopes that those who spread the issue will not injure the momentum of the 2024 Pilkada with hoax news that misleads the public.

"Moreover, it will harm those who like to spread fake news like that. Our society is already smart." said Kaesang.
