SYL Uses Ministry Of Agriculture Money Of IDR 1.9 Billion For Family Interest

JAKARTA - The Public Prosecutor (JPU) said Syahrul Yasin Limpo (SYL) received tens of billions while serving as Minister of Agriculture (Mentan). Of them, Rp. 1.9 billion was used for the benefit of his wife and family.

The use of the money was conveyed by the prosecutor when reading out the facts of the trial obtained from the testimony of witnesses and experts.

"That the collection of money is used for the interests of the defendant and his family," said the prosecutor at the trial at the Jakarta Corruption Court, Friday, June 28.

The prosecutor detailed that the use of money for Ayunsri Harahap, SYL's wife, which came from echelon one was IDR 938,940,000. This use is in the period 2020 to 2023.

Then, there was also the use of money for the needs of SYL's family such as his two children, namely Indira Chunda Thita Syahrul and Kemal Redindo Syahrul. In fact, there is also for the grandson of the former Minister of Agriculture.

"The need for the defendant's family is a total of Rp992,296,746," he said.

Of the two uses, the total money used by the Ministry of Agriculture was SYL for his family's needs, namely Rp. 1,931,236,746.

In this case, SYL was charged with extortion of up to Rp44.5 billion during the 2020-2023 period.

This action was carried out together with the Secretary General of the Ministry of Agriculture Kasdi Subagyono and the Director of Agricultural Equipment and Machinery of the Directorate General of Infrastructure and Facilities of the Ministry of Agriculture Muhammad Hatta.

This money was used for the benefit of Syahrul's wife and family, invited gifts, the NasDem Party, religious events, aircraft charters to Umrah and sacrifices. In addition, he was also charged with receiving gratuities of Rp40.6 billion from January 2020 to October 2023.

SYL was charged with violating Article 12 letter e and Article 12 letter f or Article 12B in conjunction with Article 18 of Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning the Eradication of Corruption as amended by Law Number 20 of 2001 in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1) 1st of the Criminal Code in conjunction with Article 64 paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code.
