JAKARTA - Chairman of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) Kaesang Pangarep denied the issue that his father and President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo intervened to encourage him to run in the 2024 Pilkada in Jakarta. "Don't bring up the president, it's me who is the general chairman," said Kaesang in a statement in Jakarta, Antara, Friday, June 28. According to Kaesang, the party who has the right to decide who will run to represent PSI in the Pilkada is himself as the general chairman. Several things will also be considered by Kaesang in determining who will run in the DKI Pilkada. "PSI has seats in Jakarta, there are quite 8 seats. Many parties also offer their heroes to be supported by PSI. The statement by the Secretary General of PKS may want to close the door of the coalition with PSI, that's okay too," he said. Apart from that, he hopes that those who spread the issue will not injure the momentum of the 2024 Pilkada with hoax news that misleads the public. "Moreover, it will harm those who like to spread fake news like that. Our society is already smart." said Kaesang Previously, Secretary General of the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) Aboe Bakar Habsyi said that President Jokowi had offered the name Kaesang who was PSI General Chair to political parties to be promoted in the Jakarta Pilkada. Kaesang is rumored to want to be paired with former West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil. It is known that the PSI DKI Jakarta Regional Leadership Council (DPW) said there would be a surprise in August 2024 regarding the name of the candidate for governor in the Jakarta Pilkada. "Candidates are certainly still very dynamic, as stated by Ketum Mas Kaesang in many meetings, namely waiting for the surprise in August," said Chairman of the DKI Jakarta PSI DPW Elva Farhi Qolbina during a visit to the NasDem State Defense Academy (ABN) Building, Jakarta, Tuesday (25/6).

Elva explained that his party still has the potential to be able to solve Jakarta's problems, such as congestion issues, waste emergency in Jakarta, and community welfare problems, especially the problem of social assistance (bansos) that is not on target.
