KPK Prosecutors Ready To Read Claims Related To Allegations Of SYL Extortion And Gratification Today

JAKARTA - The trial for the case of gratification and extortion with the defendant former Minister of Agriculture (Mentan) Syahrul Yasin Limpo will be held today, Friday, June 28. The Public Prosecutor (JPU) at the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) will read it out in front of the Jakarta Corruption Court Judges. "And today, Friday, June 28, 2024, one of the agendas at the Corruption Court at the Central Jakarta District Court is the reading of SYL's and friends' demands by the KPK Public Prosecutor," said KPK spokesman Tessa Mahardika to reporters in a written statement. Tessa said the prosecutor was ready with the demands against Syahrul. The judge is expected to grant it by looking at the facts of the trial. “ We hope that the judge can grant the demands submitted by fellow KPK prosecutors,” said the spokesman with the investigator's background. As previously reported, former Minister of Agriculture (Mentan) Syahrul Yasin Limpo was charged with extortion of up to Rp44.5 billion during the 2020-2023 period. This action was carried out together with the Secretary General of the Ministry of Agriculture Kasdi Subagyono and the Director of Agricultural Equipment and Machinery of the Directorate General of Infrastructure and Facilities of the Ministry of Agriculture Muhammad Hatta. This money was used for the benefit of Syahrul's wife and family, invited gifts, the NasDem Party, religious events, aircraft charters to Umrah and sacrifices. In addition, he was also charged with receiving gratuities of Rp40.6 billion from January 2020 to October 2023.

In this case, Syahrul was charged with violating Article 12 letter e or letter f or Article 12B in conjunction with Article 18 of the Corruption Eradication Law in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph 1 to 1 of the Criminal Code in conjunction with Article 64 paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code.
