MUI Asks MKD And Police To Tried Members Of The DPR And DPRD Involved In Online Gambling

JAKARTA - Deputy Chairperson of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI), Anwar Abbas, asked the Honorary Court of the Council to take firm action against members of the DPRD who were involved in online gambling. As reported by PPATK, 1,000 members of the DPR and DPRD were involved in online gambling. The senior Muhammadiyah figure also asked the government to close the online gambling and take action against its organizers.

"Ask the Honorary Court of the Council to try them so that the honor and dignity of the DPR / DPRD as people's representative institutions can be maintained and maintained," Anwar told reporters, Thursday, June 27.

Anwar also encouraged the police to intervene in overcoming online gambling which is widely carried out by members of the DPR and DPRD.

"Ask the police to process those who have violated the law and these provisions to transfer their cases to the prosecutor's office to be prosecuted in court and sentenced as they should be," he said.

In addition, Anwar assessed that there needs to be an investigation into the assets of legislative members involved in online gambling. According to him, with these efforts, it is hoped that no more members of the DPR and DPRD will be involved in online gambling. Because gambling can harm yourself, your family, others, the nation and state.

"Investigating seriously about the origin of the wealth they get and what they use for gambling because of the suspicion of fulfilling their gambling desire they have done various forbidden and forbidden ways such as corruption, stealing, extorting and robbing," concluded Anwar Abbas.

Previously, PPATK Head Ivan Yustiavandana revealed more than a thousand members of the council, both at the central and regional levels, playing online gambling.

"Regarding the question of whether, in this profession, we are talking about professions, like Mr. Habiburokhman earlier, whether there are legislatures in the center and regions, yes, we found more than a thousand people. The data is there," Ivan said in a working meeting of Commission III of the DPR at the Nusantara building, Senayan, Jakarta, Wednesday, June 26.

Ivan said that he would hand over the names of DPR members involved in online gambling to the DPR MKD for follow-up.

Ivan did not specify the exact number of members of the DPR RI involved. According to him, another explanation will be presented by the MKD RI.
