Duet With Sohibul Iman Is Considered Not To Boost Anies' Electability

JAKARTA - Political observer of the Indonesian Madani Circle, Ray Rangkuti, assessed that the PKS' intention to pair Anies Baswedan with Sohibul Iman in the 2024 Pilkada Jakarta was not profitable for Anies. Ray views that Anies' electability in the people of Jakarta will not increase if it is paired with Sohibul, who is the Deputy Chair of the PKS Syuro Council. This is because the majority of Anies voters are PKS supporters. "Anies voters are PKS. PKS residents' idols are Anies. So, there is no added value for this couple. They are just walking around their respective homes," Ray told reporters, Thursday, June 27. So, according to Ray, Anies needs another figure who strengthens his identity, not as a candidate who is in the same circle. "Jakarta's face is plural. Candidates should accommodate Jakarta's face plurality in determining their candidate pair," he said. PKS President Ahmad Syaikhu officially announced that his party would pair Anies Baswedan and Sohibul Iman as candidates for Governor and Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta in the 2024 Pilkada. "The PKS DPP at a meeting on Thursday, June 20, 2024 has decided to carry Mr. Anies rasyid Baswedan as a candidate for governor and father Sohibul of faith as a candidate for deputy governor," said Syaikhu in Central Jakarta, Tuesday, June 25. Syaikhu explained the reason for carrying out his cadres in the DKI Jakarta Pilkada contestation. According to him, PKS carries out a constitutional mandate to carry out regeneration and regeneration of political leadership. Thus, with his position as the winning party for the 2024 DKI Jakarta DPRD Legislative Election which won 18 seats, PKS felt that it had to carry its cadres in the Jakarta gubernatorial election this year.

"So, PKS will try it as much as possible to propose its own cadres, to become a candidate, is part of being held accountable to constituents including in DKI Jakarta Province as the winning party.
