The General Election Commission (KPU) will evaluate the security system ahead of the 2024 Pilkada.

This was conveyed by the Chairman of the Indonesian KPU, Hasyim Asy'ari, in response to cyberattack disturbances against the National Data Center (PDN).

"Later, we will refresh it again as an evaluation material between the KPU and a number of institutions that have been cooperating," said Hasyim in Jakarta, Wednesday, June 26, quoted by Antara.

"In connection with this incident, there must be improvement or evaluation or strengthening the system or what is the national strategic policy, the KPU will follow that," he continued.

He said the data they hold is guarded by government agencies that already have the authority.

Even so, the KPU will communicate with institutions that Hasyim said had been assigned by laws and regulations to protect KPU data.

As is known, the Minister of Communication and Information (Menkominfo), Budi Arie Setiadi, said the hackers asked for a ransom of Rp. 131 billion for the hacking of PDN.

This attack on PDN has an impact on 210 agency data. One of them is disturbances in the immigration system.

So far, continued Hasyim, the KPU has not experienced any attacks or hacks of the data they hold.

"As far as I know from the Pusdatin Team from the KPU Secretary General Team, the report we received, thank God, was not affected," said Hasyim.

Previously, the Director General of Informatics Applications at the Ministry of Communication and Information, Semuel Abrijani Pangerapan, said that a number of services were gradually recovering after cyberattack disturbances against the Temporary National Data Center (PDNS) 2 in Surabaya.

"To this day, there are three services that have gradually recovered, namely immigration services, licensing services for the Kemenkomarves event (Ministry of Coordinator for Maritime Affairs and Investment), and LKPP services (Government Goods/Services Procurement Policy Institute)," he said in a press release received, Tuesday, June 25 evening.

The Ministry of Communication and Informatics, the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN), Telkom Sigma, and several ministries/agencies using PDSN 2 are gradually restoring the affected service system.

Semuel stated that the short-term recovery process was carried out by restoring services at the Temporary recovery center (DRC) by using PDNS 1 and PDNS 2 backup data.

Semuel said that currently efforts are being made to restore 282 tenants of PDNS 2.
