The KPK Report Regarding The Corruption Court Judge Who Freed Gazalba Saleh Is A KY Priority

The Judicial Commission (KY) has received a report from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) against the Jakarta Corruption Court Judge who granted the exception of the inactive Supreme Court Justice Gazalba Saleh. They will immediately follow up.

"KY has received reports of alleged violations of the judge's code of ethics against the panel of judges in the case of a case of alleged gratification and money laundering that ensnared the inactive Supreme Court Judge GS on June 5, 2024," said KY Member and Spokesperson Mukti Fajar Nur Dewata in a written statement, Wednesday, June 26.

"The report signed by the Chairman of the KPK is addressed to the Chairman of the KY," he continued.

Currently, the Chairman of KY Amzulian Rifai is said to have provided a disposition. The Judge Supervisory Team (Waskim) has also prepared everything necessary to follow up on the report.

"This includes verifying the completeness of administrative requirements and the substance to be registered," said Mukti.

Mukti said his agency would make the anti-corruption commission report a priority because it received public attention. However, all processes are ensured to continue according to procedures by examining the reporter and witnesses as an effort to dig up information.

"In fact, it is possible that a summons will be made to the reported party," he said.

In addition, KY is also not included in the judicial technique. Mukti said his institution would only see whether or not there was an ethical violation in the interim decision that made Gazalba released.

"We will update the next information," he said.

As previously reported, the Chairperson of the KPK, Nawawi Pomolango, said that the intermediate decision of the inactive Supreme Court Justice Gazalba Saleh was odd. He said, there is an unpleasant odor that can be smelled by all parties, not just by his institution.

"When it comes to the Allir smell, everyone can kiss it. Moreover, the Corruption Eradication Commission, whose work does smell," Nawawi told reporters at a press conference at the KPK's Red and White Building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Tuesday, June 25.

Nawawi did not specify the smell of anyir he meant. He only ensured that the Jakarta Corruption Court Panel of Judges handling the Gazalba Saleh case had been reported to the Judicial Commission (KY) and the Supreme Court (MA) Supervisory Body (Bawas).

Moreover, there were allegations of ethical violations committed by the judge during the trial. Among them are that they seem to direct the prosecutor to follow the interim decision without explaining further legal steps that can be taken.

Even so, Nawawi submitted the final assessment to KY and the MA Bawas. He did not want to precede the decisions of the two institutions.

"We leave it entirely to the Judicial Commission and the Supervisory Body to conduct an assessment," he said.
