JAKARTA - Member of Commission III of the DPR from the Democratic Party faction, Benny K Harman, responded to the discourse on amendments to the 1945 Constitution (UUD) which has recently been in the spotlight. Benny revealed that the discourse on the fifth amendment was the result of an evaluation by the MPR assessment agency.

"So in the assembly here there is a complete tool called the study agency, one of the tasks of conducting an assessment of the implementation of the 1945 Constitution as a result of the change. And the study we conducted was indeed very strong. The desire to make another amendment to the 1945 Constitution, "said Benny, Monday 24 June.

Benny explained that the discourse of the fifth amendment was aimed at perfecting the 1945 Constitution. Because according to him, there are a number of articles that must be completed and perfected.

According to him, there is also a discourse to revive the Great Lines of State Policy (GBHN). He said the solution to the discourse to revive the GBHN was to amend the 1945 Constitution.

"But once again this is still in the form of a very raw study at the assessment agency. Will the recommendations of this study agency be followed up by the factions in the DPR, there are stages that must be passed," explained Benny.

Benny revealed that the study agency had conducted a study by discussing around Indonesia. Benny claimed that there was a lot of input from the community while traveling, one of which was the idea of how to strengthen the MPR by bringing GBHN to life.

In addition, it is said that there is a discourse on how to return this direct regional election to the old system.

There is also a discourse so that the president and vice president are re-elected by the MPR. That's a discourse. But there has been no official discussion at the assembly level. Still in the discourse," he said.

Benny denied reports that there was a discussion recommendation at the study agency to return the 1945 Constitution to the original manuscript. What is there, said Benny, is to make another amendment to perfect the 1945 Constitution as a result of the amendments that have been made 4 times. According to the study agency, he said, it needs to be refined.

"There needs to be clarity on a number of articles related to the administration of our country's government," he said.

Benny said the discourse to amend the 1945 Constitution was nothing new. Because, he said, in the past period there had also been discussions about the same thing.

"So all factions are indeed friends in the study agency, there needs to be improvement. That's not a strange thing. It's not a taboo thing to do. Of course through a very comprehensive assessment," he said.

Benny also emphasized that there was no specific target to complete the discourse on changing the amendments to the 1945 Constitution.

"Nothing, that's our proposal, proposals from the study agency, so the study agency conducts studies and makes recommendations," said Benny.
