JAKARTA - The devastating explosion that burned the lithium battery factory in South Korea, killed 22 workers, according to the latest information.
Most of them are Chinese nationals, local firefighters said.
The fire, which has been largely extinguished, burned a factory operated by battery manufacturer Aricell in Hwaseong, a large industrial cluster about 90 minutes southwest of the capital Seoul.
Eight Chinese workers and one Laose citizen were among the dead.
The fire broke out at 10:31 a.m. local time, Monday, June 24, after a series of battery cells exploded in a warehouse of about 35,000 units, firefighters said Kim Jin-young.
"What triggered the explosion is still unclear," he added.
