Russia's Latest Attacks Expelled By Ukraine, 12 Missiles And Drones Dropped

JAKARTA - Ukraine's air defenses shot down 12 of 16 missiles and 13 Russian-launched drones in today's latest attack, the Ukrainian air force said.

As reported by Reuters on Saturday, June 22, Russian airstrikes, which were the second major attack this week, targeted important infrastructure facilities in various regions of the country, the air force said.

Previously, a Russian guided bomb killed two people and injured three others in a residential area in the city of Selydove, eastern Ukraine.

Five five-story buildings and six private houses were damaged by the D-30 UMPB bomb in Selydove, about 14 km (nine miles) from the front lines, the Donetsk district prosecutor said via the Telegram messaging app.

Russia, which began a massive invasion in February 2022, has dropped more than 10,000 guided bombs since earlier this year, including more than 3,200 bombs in May, Ukrainian military spokesman Nazar Voloshyn said.

On the other hand, the Ukrainian drone hit an Ilsky oil refinery in Russia's southern Krasnodar region. Two people were injured and there was a small fire as a result of this incident.

The Ilsky refinery is one of the main fuel producers in southern Russia, with the capacity to purify 6.6 million tonnes of crude oil (132,000 barrels per day) per year.
