TRENGGALEK - Trenggalek Police, East Java, arrested a young man with the initials JAP (20) for mixing chemical compounds for firecracker powder.

"We arrested this suspect ahead of the Eid al-Adha celebration yesterday during the 2024 Semeru Brush Operation," said Trenggalek Police Chief AKBP Gathut Bowo Supriyono as reported by ANTARA, Friday, June 21.

Along with JAP's arrest, officers confiscated a number of evidences, ranging from powder with 500 grams packaged in two packs, 200 grams three packs and 14 packs in 100 grams.

In addition, the police also confiscated a jar of sulfur powder with a volume of 3.23 kilograms, charcoal powder about 42 grams, aluminum powder as much as 20 grams to flour as much as 71 grams.

Officers also confiscated other evidence in the form of buckets, rice centongs, spoons, wood, sieve, and other equipment knick-knacks made ofAD powder.

"Then a cell phone and a motorcycle," he added.

Even though there have been examples of cases such as the incidents of a refinery production house in Blitar exploding, killing at least four people and dozens of victims of damaged wounds and houses, in fact, did not discourage JAP.

"We carried out an in-depth investigation and succeeded in'securing' the perpetrators," he said.

To account for his actions, the evidence and JAP were brought to the Trenggalek Police Headquarters.

JAP is suspected of Article 1 paragraph (1) of the Emergency Law of the Republic of Indonesia number 12 of 1951 in conjunction with Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 1 of 1961 with a maximum prison sentence of 20 years.

"We urge the public not to play games, because it is very dangerous," he said.
