Officially Admits Palestinian State, Armenia: Commitment To International Law And Equality Principles

JAKARTA - The Republic of Armenia officially recognizes the Palestinian State, paying attention to its commitment to international law and the principle of equality on Friday.

In a statement on Friday, the Armenian Foreign Ministry highlighted the dire humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip and the ongoing war, as a critical issue in the international political agenda that requires resolution.

"The Armenian Republic has joined the United Nations General Assembly's resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza," the statement said.

Furthermore, the ministry stressed Armenia's efforts to achieve peaceful and comprehensive resolutions to the Palestinian issue based on a two-state solution, as the only way to achieve peace and security.

"Based on this above and reaffirming its commitment to international law and the principles of equality, sovereignty, and peaceful coexistence among countries, the Republic of Armenia recognizes the State of Palestine," the statement nodes.

This admission follows a similar declaration last month by Slovenia, Spain, Norway and Ireland, which further strengthens international support for the Palestinian State.

With the recognition of the Republic of Armenia over the State of Palestine, the number of members of the UN General Assembly who gave recognition increased to 149 and 193 countries.
