Former Chairman Of DPD Irman Gusman Ensures Obeying The Law In Facing West Sumatra PSU

JAKARTA - Former Chairman of the DPD Irman Gusman ensured that he would obey the law to face a series of re-voting or PSU candidates for DPD members after the Constitutional Court's decision.

"I want to obey the law and I want the legal process to be carried out according to the procedure," said Irman Gusman, quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, June 20.

Regarding Irman Gusman's obligation to announce his identity as a former convict to follow the PSU process for DPD candidates, he admitted that he did not question it.

Even the decision of the Constitutional Court was an opportunity for him to speak a lot to the public.

According to the politician who was born in Padang Panjang, without announcing his identity, the people in Ranah Minang also knew the background, including the case that had ensnared him.

"So I don't need to say that everyone already knows," said Irman.

However, Irman ensured that he would fulfill all the requirements or requirements set by the Constitutional Court, including the matter of announcing identity to the wider community.

Irman Gusman again reviewed the case that ensnared him in September 2016. According to him, what corruption means is an act of detrimental to state finances. Meanwhile, Irman admitted that he did not do this.

Separately, West Sumatra KPU Commissioner Ory Sativa Syakban reminded Irman Gusman about the deadline for his identity announcement regarding the status of a former convict in a corruption case as a condition for participating in a PSU.

"June 21, 2024 is the final limit for Irman Gusman to submit the evidence that he has announced his identity honestly and openly to the West Sumatra KPU," said Ory Sativa Syakban.

This provision refers to the decision of the Constitutional Court which requires Irman Gusman to be honest about his status as a former corruptor before participating in the PSU for the election of candidates for members of the DPD RI.
