Cak Imin Concerned About The Condition Of Tents For Indonesian Hajj Pilgrims In Mina

Jakarta - Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Abdul Muhaimin Iskandar, expressed his concern about the condition of the Indonesian pilgrims' tents after conducting a surprise inspection of the congregation's tents in Mina, Saudi Arabia. Muhaimin assessed that the condition of the existing tents and facilities was inadequate for the pilgrims, especially regarding the inappropriate capacity of tents and beds.

"One person only gets a bed of less than one meter. How can he sleep? Finally sleeping in the hallway. This should not be repeated," said Muhaimin in a written statement received in Jakarta, Tuesday, June 18.

Muhaimin revealed that there was injustice in the division of the tent area. Some tents are excessive and free, while others are in overcrowded conditions. "This is unfair. This wrong division must be corrected. In the future, each tent must have a standard size per person per name, such as at the hotel," said the chairman of the PKB, who is familiarly called Cak Imin.

In addition to the issue of tent capacity, Muhaimin also highlighted the ratio of the number of incommensurate bathrooms, causing pilgrims to queue for up to two hours. Cleaning the bathroom is also considered unguarded, and facilities for the elderly and disabilities are inadequate. "The bathroom ratio must be recalculated, cleanliness is also not maintained. Why should ablution be used by a sink? It should be normal to have ablution," he added.

Muhaimin added that this problem is related to costs incurred by pilgrims and the state. He emphasized the importance of renegotiation and rearrangement so that pilgrims feel comfortable. "The explosion of the number of pilgrims must be anticipated with the possibilities that exist. Our country is strong, our government is big, can't handle things like this? It must be possible," he said.

Muhaimin underlined that the government needs to take a dominant role in determining the facilities for Hajj pilgrims. This has become the focus in every meeting with the Ministry of Religion. "There must be a revolution in organizing Hajj from the start, a total improvement so that this alarming condition does not happen again. The Hajj handling revolution starts here, we will completely fix it," he said.

Muhaimin hopes that the new government that will be formed can take this matter seriously and not repeat the same problem every year. He also hopes that his findings can be followed up by related parties to improve the comfort and welfare of Indonesian pilgrims in the future.
