JAKARTA - Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir paid a working visit to Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE). The purpose of this visit is for development in the capital city of Nusantara (IKN), East Kalimantan.

In Dubai, Erick met with Dubai International Financial Center (DIFC) Governor Essa Abdulfattah Kazim.

"On a working visit to Dubai, UAE this time, I met with the Dubai International Financial Center (DIFC) represented by the Governor of the DIFC, Essa Abdulfattah Kazim and Tim," Erick wrote, quoted from his official Instagram @erickthohir, Sunday, June 16.

Erick said DIFC is a financial hub established to form an ecosystem for growth, development and economic development in the UAE.

Therefore, Erick assessed that Indonesia could learn from the DIFC regarding how to build a financial center in IKN, East Kalimantan.

"From their experience, Indonesia can learn how to build a Finance Center for the capital city of the archipelago," he wrote.

Previously, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) emphasized that all parties should not hesitate and be in doubt about IKN Nusantara, because the long-term project until 2045 has a strong legal basis and political support.

President Jokowi explained that Law Number 3/2022 concerning IKN had been approved by 93 percent of the factions in the DPR.

Jokowi explained that moving the capital city from DKI Jakarta to IKN Nusantara is not just moving the ministry building or the Presidential Palace and Vice President, but creating a new work culture and mindset. IKN will be built to become a smart future city based on forests and nature.
