Acting Governor Of West Java Asks All Parties To Make Massive Efforts To Prevent Bullying

BANDUNG - Acting (Pj) Governor of West Java Bey▁Keputusanhi Machmudin asked all parties, from schools, parents, and stakeholders, to actively strive massively to prevent bullying.

"We ask all parties to have massive efforts, not to happen again," said Bey in a statement in Bandung, Saturday.

This was said by Bey in connection with the bullying case experienced by Nabila Fitri Nuraini (18), a student at the Rajawali Health Vocational School, West Bandung Regency.

Nabila finally died on May 30, 2024 after being treated at a Mental Hospital, on suspicion of experiencing psychological bullying from her classmate for three years, to depression and mental disorders.

Regarding this case, Bey has instructed the Education Office (Disdik) and the Office of Women's Empowerment, Child Protection, Family Planning (DP3AKB) to immediately handle the case.

"I have asked the Head of the Education Office and the DP3AKB to really study it, so later how should there be a report from each teacher to parents or what," said Bey.

Bey also said that he had met Nabila's family at his grandmother's house in Sukawarna Village, Sukajadi District, Bandung City, Wednesday (12/6). Nabila's own house is actually located in Cteng Village, Cihanjuang Village, Parongpong District, West Bandung Regency, but the family decided to bury Nabila at a family cemetery near her grandmother's house.

"For this I encourage and ask for initiative and courage to report. Because it is very important," said Bey.

The bullying that Nabila allegedly experienced for three years, was revealed after it went viral on social media. The mother said that she had received complaints from her son that her friend had been bullied, but her son asked not to make it a problem because she wanted to focus on learning. Meanwhile, the principal admitted that he did not receive reports of bullying from parents.

The West Java Provincial Government itself since 2023 has had a Stopper program (Integrated System for Bullying Complaints) with a 'Three Dare' tagline, namely Dare to Talk - Dare to Report - Dare to Refuse.

West Java stoppers that have been integrated with the Sapawarga application. Through Stoppers in Sapawarga, students of victims, parents, or friends of victims can know that there is bullying, they can report via WA, QR Code, and "website" which will be followed up by the school.
