Anies Is Not Enthusiastic That The Response Was Duet With Kaesang In The DKI Gubernatorial Election

JAKARTA - Anies Baswedan responded to the discourse that he was paired with the Chairman of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) Kaesang Pangarep in the DKI Jakarta gubernatorial election. Anies was not very enthusiastic when talking about the opportunity to be duet with President Joko Widodo's youngest son. According to Anies, anyone has the right to be nominated in a political contestation. "Actually, in principle, every citizen has the same right. The same right to be elected, to vote," said Anies when met at the DKI Jakarta PKB DPW Office, Thursday, June 13. The former governor of DKI Jakarta assessed that the main priority in preparing for the candidacy, after being supported by PKB Jakarta as a candidate for governor, was to find a coalition of parties. This is because PKB must look for a coalition of political parties that can meet the nomination threshold of the number of DPRD seats, namely at least 22 seats in Jakarta for the 2024 Legislative Election. Meanwhile, the acquisition of 10 seats for PKB in the 2024 DKI DPRD legislative election for 10 seats and 8 seats for PSI is not enough to carry the cagub-cawagub pair. "Right now, we are thinking about how to make PKB not alone, but together with other parties because it can't be alone, right?" explained Anies. "First, (the condition for the number of seats or votes) for the party is enough (to carry). If the party is sufficient, then we will talk about a partner," he added. Previously, the Chairman of the PKB Jakarta DPW, Hasbiallah Ilyas, admitted that his party had established communication with PSI regarding coalition opportunities in the 2024 Jakarta Pilkada. Thus, Hasbi opened the opportunity to pair Anies with Kaesang Pangarep. "We are open to anyone's deputy governor, including Mas Kaesang. We are willing if Mas Kaesang really wants to nominate the Deputy Governor of DKI," said Hasbi. Responding to this, Kaesang admitted that there was no problem if he received an offer to pair Anies Baswedan in the 2024 DKI Jakarta gubernatorial election.

Although he has not yet decided whether to run for the DKI Jakarta Pilkada, President Joko Widodo's son assesses that there will be a positive impact if he is paired with Anies. "It doesn't matter, I think it's also good. I think Mr. Anies is also now the highest survey," said Kaesang.
