Bambang Susantono Appointed By Jokowi As Presidential Special Envoy For IKN International Cooperation

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo appointed Bambang Susantono as the Presidential Special Envoy for International Cooperation in the Capital City of the Archipelago (IKN). The assignment of the president to Bambang Susantono, who previously served as Head of the Archipelago Capital Authority (OIKN), was stated in Presidential Decree Number 39/M of 2024 which was signed on June 11, 2024. "On June 11, 2024, the President has signed Presidential Decree Number 39/M of 2024, concerning the appointment of Bp. Bambang Susantono as the Presidential Special Envoy for International Cooperation in the Construction of the Archipelago Capital," said Presidential Special Staff Coordinator Ari Dwipayana in a written message received by ANTARA in Jakarta, Thursday, June 13. Ari explained that as the Presidential Special Envoy, Bambang Susantono has the task of encouraging the entry of foreign investment in IKN and assisting the implementation of the market sounding of IKN development in bilateral and international economic meetings. "As well as carrying out other tasks related to international cooperation in IKN development provided by the President," said Ari. On the previous occasion, President Jokowi admitted that he would provide a new assignment for Bambang Susantono as a special envoy for international cooperation in order to accelerate development in IKN. According to the President, Bambang has experience in international cooperation that can be useful for the State. "Because indeed, we use his experience internationally as much as possible for the good of the country," said the President. Bambang Susantono previously served as Head of OIKN with Dhony Rahajoe as Deputy Chief of OIKN. The resignation of the two was announced by the Minister of State Secretary (Mensesneg) Pratikno on June 3, after President Jokowi received a letter of resignation first from Dhony Rahajoe as Deputy Head of the IKN Authority, then followed from Bambang Susantono.

Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono was appointed Acting Head of the IKN Authority and Deputy Minister of ATR Raja Juli Antoni as Acting Deputy Head of the IKN Authority.
