Firli Bahuri's Extortion Case, Metro Police It Turns Out That They Have Checked SYL Et Al Again

JAKARTA - The case of alleged extortion and acceptance of gratuities with the suspect, former Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission or KPK, Firli Bahuri, continues. Most recently, Polda Metro Jaya has re-examined former Minister of Agriculture Syahrul Yasin Limpo (SYL).

"It has been carried out (the SYL examination)," said Director of Special Criminal Investigation of the Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Ade Safri Simanjuntak to VOI, Monday, June 10.

Not only SYL, investigators also examined the former Secretary General (Sekjen) of the Ministry of Agriculture Kasdi Subagyono and former Director of Agricultural Equipment and Machinery of the Ministry of Agriculture Muhammad Hatta.

The examination of them was carried out last week. Their statement is intended to complete the case file for the suspect Firli Bahuri.

"If I'm not mistaken on June 4, 2024 ago (the examination of SYL et al)," he said.

Although they have examined the three former officials of the Ministry of Agriculture, investigators are said to be still examining several other witnesses. However, it was not clearly stated who else would be questioned.

"There is still an examination or request for information from several witnesses," said Ade.

In this case, Firli Bahuri was named a suspect based on the results of the case title conducted on Wednesday, November 22, 2023.

Several pieces of evidence that became the basis for determining the suspect, namely, foreign exchange documents worth Rp7.4 billion. There are also the results of the extraction of 21 cellphones.

However, Firli Bahuri has not yet been detained. Although, he is already a suspect.

In this case, Firli Bahuri was charged with Article 12 e or Article 12 B or Article 11 of Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption as amended and supplemented by Law Number 20 of 2001 concerning Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption in conjunction with Article 65 of the Criminal Code.
