JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has confirmed that they have partnered with other institutions, including the police, to hunt down fugitives.
A KPK Spokesperson for Enforcement Affairs, Ali Fikri said the anti-graft commission was never alone in doing this. Until today, 7 fugitives have not been caught.
"In the search for fugitives, so far the KPK is not alone but has cooperated with the related parties", Ali said when contacted by VOI editorial, Monday, March 15.
Meanwhile, regarding the seven fugitives who are still being chased by the KPK, continued Ali, five of them are the legacy of the previous leadership before Firli Bahuri et al. "And two people (become fugitives, red) in this period", he said.

Even so, the KPK will continue to make efforts to arrest these seven people regardless of when they are included in the wanted list (DPO).
"We emphasize that the KPK is obliged to continue to search for KPK fugitives regardless of when the DPO was established", he said.
As previously reported, the encouragement for the KPK to cooperate with institutions to find corruptors who were still at large was conveyed by Deputy Chairman of Commission III of the House of Representatives (DPR RI), Ahmad Sahroni. He considered, increasing cross-institutional cooperation is something that must be done.
Moreover, currently, there are still corruptors who are on the wanted list (DPO) that have not been found and their whereabouts are not even known.
"There are things that the KPK needs to do, including increasing cross-institutional cooperation, such as with the police and the Ministry of Law and Human Rights", Sahroni said, quoted from the NasDem Party Faction website, Sunday, March 14.
The NasDem Party politician said the KPK should optimize their search for the wanted list. This, he continued, is important so that the corruption case that is being investigated can immediately find a bright spot, including that it can be immediately transferred to the court.
"The settlement of cases currently being investigated in the country is actually very closely related to the discovery of these wanted people. So, if they are found quickly, the case will be transferred to court and immediately decided. So the public also does not have to wait long", he said.
In addition, coordination between agencies, such as with the Ministry of Law and Human Rights must be carried out as quickly as possible. The goal is that fugitives who have fled abroad can immediately be extradited to Indonesia if their location is known.
"So the synergy is very important", he said.
It is known that the seven fugitives who have not been caught by the KPK are Harun Masiku, who is a former PDIP Party candidate who bribed former General Election Commission (KPU) commissioner Wahyu Setiawan; Kirana Kotama, who is a suspect in the 2014 procurement case for the SSV vessel for the Philippine government that involved PT PAL; and Sjamsul Nursalim and his wife, Itjih Nursalim, who were suspects in the Bank Indonesia Liquidity Assistance (BLBI) case.
Then, there is also Izil Azhar who was caught in a case of gratification by the Governor of Aceh for the 2007-2012 period; Surya Darmadi, who was caught in a bribery case for forest function change in Riau Province; and Samin Tan who was the giver of bribes against former DPR RI member Eni Maulani Saragih in the Riau-1 Electric steam power plant (PLTU) case.
Regarding efforts to hunt down Harun Masiku, the KPK has always emphasized that they continue to coordinate with the National Police Criminal Investigation Unit. In addition, the anti-graft commission has also formed two task forces tasked with searching and monitoring former PDIP candidates who have been fugitive and included in the wanted list since 17 January 2020.
