Imam And Khatib At The Grand Mosque Are Directed To Abbreviate Friday Prayers

JAKARTA - The head of Religious Affairs at the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque, Dr Abdurrahman as-Sudais, directed the imams and preachers in the two mosques to shorten the sermons and Friday prayers in the 2024 Hajj season.

Reported by ANTARA, Saturday, June 8, Syakh Dr Abdurrahman as-Sudais gave directions, including to protect guests of Allah and the congregation of prayers in the tawaf courtyard, the roof floor, and the yard from the scorching heat.

This, he said, is also part of the ease, relief, or efforts to stem the difficulties of the pilgrims who are present at Baitullah and perform Friday prayers at the two holy mosques.

The directives for shortening Friday's sermons and prayers are also in line with the order of the Prophet Muhammad SAW based on Muslim HR, namely "Abbreviate the sermon. In fact, some of the explanations contain magic (binding)."

In addition, the directive has also been explained in the hadith of Jabir bin Sapurah rahhiyallahu 'anhu, who said, "I pray with the Prophet SAW. I met his prayers while and his sermon was." (HR Muslim).

Syaikh Dr Abdurrahman as-Sudais then explained that the pulpit of the two holy mosques has a high place in the hearts of Muslims. Thus, they listen carefully to get a true and moderate understanding of Islam, as well as instructions from the existing sermons. too long sermons can actually make the congregation forget the original part.

Umul Mukminin Aisyah radhiyallahu 'anha has also said that the Prophet SAW does not speak the way you speak now, but he speaks in clear and regular words that can be memorized by the person he sits with. " (HR Tirmidzi).

The head of Religious Affairs also directed the imams in the two holy mosques to lighten the congregation by reducing the amount of recitation of the Koran and shortening the time between the call to prayer and iqamah during the hajj season.

This, he said, was done because he paid attention to the large number of pilgrims who came, including the weak and the elderly, and to overcome the congestion that occurred.

All of this was done based on sharia principles and prioritized goals.
