Probolinggo Police Raid Mercon Factory House

Probolinggo Police, East Java, raided a resident's house which was the production site for explosives in Matekan Village ahead of Lebaran Besar 2024.

"We secured hundreds of firecracker explosives at a resident's house with the initials S (49) in Matekan Village, Besuk District, Probolinggo Regency," said Head of the Samapta Unit (Kasat) of the Probolinggo Police, AKP Siswandi, quoted by ANTARA, Friday, June 7.

The police secured the explosives starting from information from the public who said there was a house in Besuk District which was used as a production site for fireworks.

"Furthermore, our members, led by Bripka Haris, carried out an investigation and search at the homes of local residents. When they were searched, it was true that hundreds of explosives were found in S's house," he said.

The perpetrator and the evidence are currently being secured to the Probolinggo Police Satsamapta Office for further processing.

"We have secured the owner and evidence of hundreds of fireworks explosives. If later it is found that there is a criminal element, we will hand it over to the Probolinggo Police Criminal Investigation Unit," he said.

Meanwhile, the Probolinggo Police Chief AKBP Wisnu Wardana appealed to the public not to use explosives for any activities because it is dangerous for themselves and others.

Some of the cases that occurred in the house that made firecrackers exploded to hit local residents, not even a few of the perpetrators who made firecrackers become victims.

"We will take firm action against anyone who stores or has explosives, whether it's to make firecrackers or to assemble fish bombs," he said.
