BMKG Predicts Most Of Indonesia Will Be Cloudy And Light Rain Today

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicts that the weather for the mass of big cities in Indonesia will be cloudy this Friday.

Quoting ANTARA sourced from the BMKG website, Friday, June 7, a number of areas are predicted to be cloudy, including Padang, Pangkal Pinang, Semarang, Yogyakarta, Denpasar, Pontianak, Tarakan, Mamuju, Kendari, and Manado.

A number of areas are also forecasted to be cloudy, such as Banda Aceh, Jambi, Pekanbaru, Palembang, Serang, and Jakarta.

Light rain is predicted to fall in Medan, Tanjung Pinang, Bandung, Mataram, Kupang, Palangkaraya, Samarinda, Makassar, Gorontalo, Ternate, Manokwari, and Jayapura.

Then rain with moderate intensity is forecasted to fall in Ambon, and rain accompanied by lightning is forecasted to flush Banjarmasin.

The sunny weather is predicted to only occur in Bengkulu, Bandar Lampung, and Surabaya, with air temperatures ranging from 21-33 degrees Celsius.

Meanwhile, BMKG revealed that Jakarta's surface temperature has increased significantly by 1.6 degrees Celsius in the last 130 years due to the change in the landscape from the previous dominant plant vegetation to the property area.

This results in a significant upward trend with changes in rainfall, such as heavy rain, but shorter duration. Rainfall increases in the morning and changes in the day to night, as well as increased frequency and intensity of rain in the rainy season.

"We will continue to experience that change, but what is certain is that changes in the landscape and the environment will have consequences, one of which is the consequences for the climate," said BMKG Siswanto's Extreme Weather and Climate Practitioner.
