JAKARTA - Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto said Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky had not approved Indonesia's proposal to carry out a ceasefire in his war with Russia.

This was conveyed by Prabowo after he reported to President Joko Widodo at the Jakarta Presidential Palace, Thursday, June 6, regarding his meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at the Shangri-La Dialogue Forum in Singapore some time ago.

"Ladies and gentlemen, I have just reported the results of my two-day meetings in Singapore. I met with various figures, defense ministers from several countries. I also met with President Zelensky, I reported to the President," Prabowo said in a statement quoted by ANTARA.

Prabowo said at a meeting with Zelensky he was trying to convince Zelensky, by offering good Indonesian services to help push towards the ceasefire.

"He still doesn't agree with our proposals, but we will continue to try," Prabowo explained.

Prabowo said his meeting with Zelensky on the sidelines of the Shangri-La Dialogue Forum in Singapore, at Zelensky's own request.

On that occasion, Zelensky invited Prabowo to attend the Russia-Ukraine War Peace Summit in Geneva, Switzerland.

"Indeed, he (Zelensky) asked specifically to meet Indonesia, and meet me. He invited me to Geneva, but of course later the President, the Foreign Minister will discuss it, maybe the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs will also discuss whether Indonesia's final attitude is present or not," said Prabowo.

He said many countries felt the Peace Summit should be attended by all elements, in this case Russia and Ukraine.

While the latest news gathered, Russia was not included in the Peace Summit in Geneva.
