JAKARTA - Dozens of illegal travel and public transportation that prevent at the shadow terminal on Jalan Raya Jatiwaringin, Cipinang Melayu Village, Makasar District, East Jakarta were brought under control by officers from the East Jakarta Sub-dept.

"They put passengers in an inappropriate position, which is located to close two lanes, thereby endangering road users and traffic jams," said Head of the Operations Section of the East Jakarta Transportation Sub-dept., Riki Erwinda when confirmed, Thursday, June 6.

In this activity, the East Jakarta Sub-dept. of Transportation collaborated with the East Jakarta Metro Police Traffic Unit and the TNI from the East Jakarta Jaya team. The activity was carried out on Wednesday night at 23.00 WIB.

The officers of the East Jakarta Metro Police Sub-dept. and Traffic Unit examined one by one the letters of public transport vehicles and private cars used as transportation. The action was carried out by a joint Cross Jaya team of 40 personnel.

"The transportation usually runs every day from 23.00 to 04.30 WIB. Even though their activities are at night, it triggers traffic jams, especially roads from Bekasi to Jakarta, to be precise around the Jati Base area," he said.

A total of 20 illegal travel and public transportation vehicles are given sanctions. Two other vehicles are not allowed to operate because they have not extended Kir.

"Four vehicles in the BAP by Dishub officers, while 14 other vehicles in the BAP (ditilang) by police officers," he said.

Riki said that the Jatiwaringin area is often used as a shadow terminal for Elf illegal transportation and private vehicles.

"We will carry out mobile surveillance," he said.
