SAR Team Finds One Dead Victim Of Watershed Landslides Semeru Lumajang

The joint SAR team again found one landslide victim in Pronojiwo Village, Lumajang Regency, East Java.

"The victim who was found was identified as Dwi Suprapto (35), a resident of Pronojiwo Village and was found at around 13.10 WIB in a dead condition," said Head of the Surabaya SAR Office Muhamad Hariyadi, quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, June 5.

According to him, Dwi's body was found after the joint SAR team moved the landslide material on the edge of the cliff and its location was about 20 meters from the location of the first victim found, namely Kusnadi (40), a resident of Pronojiwo Village on Tuesday (5/6) afternoon.

"Efforts to search for victims were carried out by a joint SAR team using several methods, starting from using K9 animals, using manual equipment (such as hoes and shovels), to using heavy equipment in the form of excavators," he said.

One survivor of the landslide cliff rubble, namely Abdul Latif (32) from Malang Regency and was taken to the Pronojiwo Health Center for treatment due to minor injuries suffered, before being brought home by the family.

"The joint SAR team still has to make efforts to search for the two victims who have not been found, namely Rohim as the truck driver and Junaidi (26)," he said.

The search for victims was temporarily suspended on Wednesday evening due to dark conditions and it was not possible for a search to be carried out, so the search for the two victims who were still buried by the landslide continued on Thursday (6/6) morning.

A river cliff in the lava stream of Mount Semeru in Supit Hamlet, Pronojiwo Village/District, landslides on the east side, so that avalanche material points to the west which hit local sand mining workers in the local hamlet on Tuesday (4/6).

Five miners were at the location, but one miner Abdul Latif managed to survive the landslide debris and four other miners were buried by landslides as high as 15-20 meters.

The four victims who were buried by the landslide were Junaedi (26) a resident of Malang Regency, Dwi (35) a resident of Pronojiwo Village/District, Kusnadi (40) a resident of Pronojiwo Village/Sub-district, and Rohim a resident of Sidomulyo Village-Pronojiwo District.
