JAKARTA - A young mother in Ukraine was threatened with 15 years in prison after being arrested by the police for buying and selling her son. The 19-year-old mother plans to use the money from the sale to open a business. Police in Dnipro distributed a picture of a group of banknotes reportedly given to the perpetrators. Reporting from the Mirror, his son is still two years old and sold for 19,000 or more than IDR 309 million. Police said the perpetrator had tried to sell the child to a 'introduction' but was arrested after being paid after meeting at a specified time. The boy has since been treated by social services. "The doctor is now treating the boy," the police said in a statement. "The prisoner's residence was searched and physical evidence was confiscated, the police continued, Wednesday, June 5. "He didn't want to take care of his son, so he decided to sell him and use the money to open his own business,” reports Ukrainian public broadcaster Suspilne. Pictures show the woman was handcuffed and taken to a police car waiting after being arrested. He was detained for 60 days pending further investigation. The report did not specify what kind of business he wanted to open.

Police statement said, "The crime was documented by the Migration Police Department and the National Police Investigation Department in the Dnipro region in collaboration with the Department of Criminal Analysis". Neither the suspect's identity nor the buyer were disclosed.
