PKB Gives Final Recommendations To Carry 35 Regional Head Candidates, Here's The List

JAKARTA - The National Awakening Party (PKB) issued a final recommendation to 65 regional candidates (brajada) to run in the 2024 Simultaneous Pilkada. Dozens of these names will be promoted by PKB as candidates for regents-deputy regents and mayors-deputy mayors.

A total of 35 names have passed the second phase of selection which has received approval from the Pilkada Decree; Executive Strengthening, Legislative, and Party Structural Affairs; to the Secretary General and General Chair of PKB.

"So these are 35 regencies/cities that have been declared final recommendations today. That means, the letter to be issued is signed directly by the General Chair and the Secretary General of the PKB DPP," said Chairman of the PKB Pilkada Decree Abdul Halim Iskandar at the PKB DPP office, Central Jakarta, Monday, June 3.

Since the registration of prospective regional head candidates for PKB 2024 dated April 20, 2024 until now, the DPP PKB Pilkada Decree has received registration of 3,014 people. Then, 2,990 registrants who passed the administrative verification.

Furthermore, PKB conducted a fit and proper test (UKK) for 592 people. In the UKK process, the sub-district heads were asked to convey their vision and mission regarding the development of their respective regions. Bacakada was also asked to convey the winning strategy to win the Pilkada contestation.

"This is really a marathon every day, except Sunday. Even yesterday's national holiday, we continued to carry out the UKK. We are trying so that all 2,990 can be UKKed and complete the determination of phase 1 and the final stage," explained Halim.

In the UKK process, the sub-district heads were asked to convey their vision and mission regarding the development of their respective regions. Bacakada was also asked to convey the winning strategy to be pursued in order to win the Pilkada contestation.

"What the UKK team is asking is what the problem is in the country. Incidentally, we have data per problem in regions throughout Indonesia, we just have to check whether this person is solving the regional problem or not. It really doesn't make sense if we want to run as regional head, we are asked about regional problems, we don't know," said Halim.

Halim emphasized that it is possible that PKB will add the names that will be recommended to concentrate in regional head elections. Bearing in mind, PKB has not issued any recommendations against the prospective governor and deputy governor candidates who will be promoted.
