As Acting IKN Authority, Jokowi Asks July Basuki-King To Accelerate IKN Development

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) officially appointed PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono and Deputy Minister of ATR/BPN Raja Juli Antoni as Acting Head and Deputy Head of the IKN Authority. They were asked to accelerate the ongoing development.

"The Minister of PUPR and Deputy Minister of ATR are summoned by the president so that they are in the status of Acting (official executor) immediately guarantee the acceleration of IKN development as well as possible," said Minister of State Secretary (Mensesneg) Pratikno in a press conference broadcast on the Presidential Secretariat's YouTube, Monday, June 3.

Praktikno said the two were asked to carry out development in accordance with the predetermined vision. "Stay consistent with the master plan of the jungle and provide positive benefits for the surrounding community as well," he said.

Previously reported, PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono and Deputy Minister of ATR/BPN Raja Juli Antoni became the Acting Head and Deputy Head of the IKN Authority after Bambang Susantono and Donny Rahajoe resigned from their positions.

The Minister of State Secretary did not elaborate on the resignation. However, he said that Donny Rahajoe's application was submitted by the Deputy Head of the IKN Authority.

"Mr. President received a letter of resignation from Mr. Donny Rahajoe as Deputy Head of the IKN Authority and then some time later the President received a letter requesting the resignation of Mr. Bambang Susantono, from the Head of the IKN Authority," Pratikno said at a press conference, Monday, June 3.

"Today, the president's decision to honorably dismiss Mr. Bambang Susantono as Head of the IKN Authority and also Mr. Donny Rahahoe as Deputy Head of the IKN Authority is accompanied by thanks for his services," he continued.
