Before Being Found Dead In Bukit Anak Dara Lombok, A Foreigner From Switzerland Had Left Items At The Hotel

The joint SAR team together with members of the TNI-Polri evacuated a foreign national (WNA) named Melanie from Switzerland who died after falling from a cliff with a height of about 1,463.26 meters or a depth of 30.75 meters, while climbing the hill of Anak Dara Sembalun, Mount Rinjani Foot Area, East Lombok Regency, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB).

"The SAR team managed to evacuate the victim from where he fell for approximately six hours," said Sembalun Police Chief AKP Wahyu Indrawan, Sunday, June 2.

After successfully evacuating from the place where he fell, he said, the victim was taken to Bhayangkara Hospital for a post-mortem.

"During the evacuation, the SAR team experienced problems because the cliff was steep where the victim fell," he said.

Wahyu explained, before the victim was found dead by the children's hill manager Dara Sembalun and the community, the victim had not returned since leaving the hotel where he was staying, on Friday, May 31.

The victim who came to Sembalun on Thursday, May 30 and stayed at an inn in Sembalun District. The victim checked out, on Friday, May 31, at noon. It's just that when checking out, the victim left the goods to the owner of the inn.

"With the excuse of going to climb the Dara Children's hill," he said.

According to him, the owner of the inn was restless because until Saturday morning, June 1, the victim did not return to retrieve the goods. So the owner of the inn took the initiative to search and coordinate with the children's hill manager Dara.

Local residents then walked along the hiking trail and from the top of the hill saw the figure of the human body in the ravine. To make sure of this, two residents descended into the ravine and it turned out to be the figure of the victim's body.

After confirming that the body seen from the hill was the victim's body, the manager immediately reported to the police and carried out an evacuation by the joint SAR team.
