SOLOK - The Center for Natural Resources Conservation (BBKSDA) of West Sumatra suspected the reason the Sumatran tiger (Panthera Tigris Sumatrae) came out of its habitat and entered the mosque yard in Solok Regency because its habitat was disrupted by human activity.

"The tiger that came out of its habitat was caused by the activity of several people, but not the surrounding community who entered the habitat to carry out bird binding," said Acting Head of the West Sumatra BKSDA Dian Indriati as reported by ANTARA, Friday, May 31.

He explained that the birdsmen were afraid of the appearance of tigers, so they used sounds that scared the tiger and came out of its habitat, finally entering the mosque grounds.

Dian also explained other reasons that caused the tiger to enter the mosque grounds because the area around the mosque is a conservation forest and a protected forest.

"Because the mosque environment is surrounded by conservation forests and protected forests," he said.

However, he said the BBKASDA team together with a joint team and the local government had made various efforts to bring the tiger back into the forest or its habitat.

"The joint team is already at the scene to carry out mitigation efforts and educate the public to be calm," he said.

In addition, the team also made efforts to transport animals to their habitats which were directly adjacent to their habitats in forest areas. This is done so that people are calm and there are no casualties from both the human and animal parties.

Dian also appealed to the public not to make arrests, injure or even kill protected animals.

Because those who do this will be subject to sanctions based on Article 40 of Law number 5 of 1990 concerning Conservation of Biological Natural Resources and Ecosystems (KSDAHE).

Anyone who violates the law will be subject to a maximum imprisonment of five years and a maximum fine of Rp. 100 million.
