Central Kalimantan Prosecutor's Office Sets KONI-Charsing Chairpersons For Kotim Corruption Suspects For Grant Funds

PALANGKA RAYA - The Central Kalimantan High Prosecutor's Office (Kejati) has named two suspects in the alleged corruption case of Indonesia National Sports Committee (KONI) grant funds for East Kotawaringin Regency (Kotim) for the 2021-2023 fiscal year.

The two suspects are the Chairman of the Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI) of East Kotawaringin Regency (Kotim) with the initials AU and the Treasurer of the BP KONIKotim.

The Assistant for Special Crimes (Aspidsus) of the Central Kalimantan Prosecutor's Office, Douglas Pamino Nainggolan, said the reasons for determining the two suspects were in accordance with legal provisions.

"In fact, it was found that criminal incidents included two sufficient pieces of evidence and beliefs from investigators," Douglas said as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, May 31.

He said that the determination of the suspect had also fulfilled the elements of a criminal act so that it was the suspect who was responsible for the crime.

Then, the two suspects will soon be investigated to explain the suspected case. "The examination of them will be possible soon and in the near future a filing will be carried out soon," he said.

He revealed, from 2021 to 2023 KONI Kotim will receive grants from the Kotim Regency Government through the local Regency Youth and Sports Service (Dispora).

Furthermore, in the use of the Kotim KONI grant, there are irregularities that have the potential to cause state losses, therefore this case was raised by the Central Kalimantan Prosecutor's Office.

Even the investigative team some time ago also conducted searches of several local district government offices, and even secured dozens of files suspected of having links to the case.

"Yes, one of the searches secured evidence related to the case," Douglas said.

Meanwhile, regarding state losses in this case, investigators are still waiting for reports on the results of calculating state losses from auditors.
