Hutama Karya Completes Iron Evacuation That Falls On The ASEAN-Blok M MRT Line

PT Hutama Karya (Persero) has completed the evacuation of iron material on the ASEAN MRT Station line to Blok M Station, South Jakarta.

EVP Corporate Secretary Hutama Karya Adjib Al Hakim said Hutama Karya as the contractor for the construction project of the Junior Attorney General's Building for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) at the Attorney General's Office apologized for the inconvenience caused by the incident of falling iron material, precisely on the Jakarta MRT Line track of the HI-Lebak Bulus Roundabout between MRT ASEAN Station and Blok M MRT Station on Thursday at around 17.00 WIB which had disrupted the operation and comfort of MRT users.

"After the incident, Hutama Karya evacuated iron material in four stages for 2 hours which was completed earlier at 20.05 WIB. However, regarding the operation time, it is under the authority of the Jakarta MRT," said Adjib as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, May 30.

Based on the initial investigation, this incident was caused by electromagnetic induction that occurred when the MRT train passed while the power crane was lifting iron material.

The induction resulted in a sudden collapse, so that the iron material that was being lifted fell obliquely and entered the MRT rail following the induction current.

Even so, before the material removal work was carried out, Hutama Karya as the contractor coordinated with the MRT and agreed on a safe limit on the distance to remove materials, which was 6 meters, in accordance with the results of the coordination.

The company will soon take preventive measures to prevent a similar incident from recurring in the future.

The actions to be taken include evaluation and improvement of work safety procedures, particularly related to the use of crackdown near the MRT route.

Review of the safe distance of material removal by involving electromagnetic experts to ensure operational safety.

Improved coordination and communication with the MRT to ensure that every step taken has met the highest safety standard.
