JAKARTA - Secretary of the Gerindra Party Leadership Council (DPP) DKI Jakarta Rani Mauliani emphasized that her party did not open the registration of candidates for governor and deputy governor openly for the 2024 DKI Jakarta Pilkada.
"We are a party with one command. So, in DPD there is no opening of registration for cagub and cawagub," Rani said in a short message, Thursday, May 30.
Rani emphasized that the DPD Gerindra DKI will carry out whatever the decision of the Gerindra Party Leadership Council (DPP) led by Prabowo Subianto.
"All directions are in the DPP," he said.
Separately, Deputy Chairperson of the Gerindra Party, Habiburokhman, explained that the mechanism for nominating regional head candidates from the Gerindra Party was usually initiated by input from cadres submitted to Prabowo.
He said that the name that appears the most at the grassroots of Gerindra is Budisatrio Djiwandono.
"In my electoral district, East Jakarta, many suggested Budi Djiwandono, a lot of support for Mas Budi throughout East Jakarta," said Habiburokhman.
Later, a photo poster of the duo Budisatrio and Kaesang Pangarep emerged as candidates for the Governor and Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta.
The photo of the duet of Prabowo Subianto's nephew and the youngest son of President Joko Widodo was uploaded by the Daily Chair of the Gerindra DPP on his personal Instagram account.
Habiburokhman explained that Budisatrio's poster paired with Kaesang was just an aspiration.
"Regarding Pak Budi Djiwandono's poster with Mas Kaesang, I think it is a form of conveying people's aspirations to us," he said.
