Prabowo Receives OECD Secretary General Visit

Minister of Defense Prabowo Subianto received a visit from the Secretary General of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) Mathias Cormann and a delegation at the Ministry of Defense office, Jakarta.

The meeting, which was also attended by Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, was related to Indonesia's efforts to become an OECD membership.

Airlangga was observed to be present at around 15.07 WIB, while Mathias was present at 15.09 WIB. The meeting was held behind closed doors so that no media crew could participate in the discussion.

After the closed meeting, the figures did not provide information to the media.

Indonesia is entering an important stage to join as an OECD member, namely the accession process. In the process, Indonesia is required to convey an initial memorandum to meet OECD membership standards and requirements.

This is the last step that Indonesia must take to enter OECD membership.

If these requirements can be met, Indonesia will become the first country from Southeast Asia as a candidate for OECD members. So far, 38 countries have supported Indonesia entering the OECD.

Before meeting with Prabowo, Mathias met with Indonesian President Joko Widodo at the Bogor Presidential Palace, West Java. The meeting was held to discuss the accession process and steps that need to be taken by the Indonesian government.
