SERANG - Ahmad Syauqi, son of Vice President Ma'ruf Amin officially ran for the 2024 Banten Governor Election (Pilgub) through the National Awakening Party (PKB).

Syauqi admitted that he was determined to run in the Banten Pilkada after carrying out the prayer and getting support from the ulama two years ago.

"Initially I wasn't a confident person. I got encouragement from the kiyai and performed the tistikharah prayer," he said after explaining the vision and mission as a candidate for Governor of Banten at the Banten PKB DPW office as reported by ANTARA, Monday, May 27.

Syauqi also said that he received a number of important messages from his father Ma'ruf Amin if he was elected later.

"It will be returned to us when it comes to advancing for the gubernatorial election. Communication often with him. He gave a mandate to help protect Banten, and encourage Banten to be better," he said.

Syauqi follows the screening process as a candidate for deputy governor. However, the pressure from the Banten PKB made him decide to run as a candidate for governor.

"I asked PKB for permission first if I wanted to register in another party, which one was appropriate. Earlier, that's why I was still registering for the deputy governor, but PKB said, it was only a candidate for governor," he said.

Syauqi admitted that he had a vision and mission in improving the economy of the community, especially in Islamic Boarding Schools, to become the axis of improving the community's economy, and synergizing with the community, to absorb, synergize, build Banten.
